President proposes depriving Rada of right to vote of no confidence in prosecutor general
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has proposed that the Verkhovna Rada should be deprived of the right to move for a vote of no confidence in the prosecutor general.
Poroshenko said that Article 85 of the Constitution could be amended so that the prosecutor general is appointed or dismissed by president with the approval of Verkhovna Rada.
"The authority of the prosecutor general lasts for six years. The same person can't be the prosecutor general for two terms in a row," he said.
The full text of the proposal has been posted on the parliament's website.
