Poroshenko enacts 'visa liberalization' bills passed by parliament
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that he has enacted the bills under the "visa-free package" passed by the Ukrainian parliament.
"The ink was not even dry, I've just signed a package of so-called "visa-free bills." We've observed the technical conditions and we're waiting for the EU decision on the prospects of introducing the visa-free regime," Poroshenko said in his address to Ukrainians on the occasion of Day of Dignity and Freedom on Saturday.
He added that all 28 EU member countries have ratified the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement.
"Usually, this takes many years, and we coped with this in 17 months from the day of the signing [of the Agreement]," he said.
He added that from January 1, 2016, the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) with the European Union will be in effect, despite attempts of Russia to hinder the process.
