Pope accepts Poroshenko's invitation to visit Ukraine
Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko has invited Pope Francis to visit Ukraine and the Pope has accepted the invitation.
"I have invited His Holiness to visit Ukraine, and he accepted the invitation," Poroshenko wrote on his Facebook page after meeting with the Pope.
The president also asked the Pope about the beatification of Metropolitan Andriy Sheptytsky and the launch of the same procedure with regard to Bishop Stefan Czmil, who was the spiritual mentor of Pope Francis in Argentina.
The president described the meeting with the Pope as "very moving."
"He (the Pope) has assured me that he never forgets about Ukraine and prays for peace in our country," Poroshenko said.
