Ukraine has Italy's support in security, defense issues – Poroshenko's press service
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko during his visit to Italy has gained the country's support in security, fight against corruption and economic areas, as in the matters of the European integration.
During the meetings with Italy's President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Matteo Renzi in Rome, Poroshenko discussed the issues of security, economy and politics, the Ukrainian president's press service reported.
"Poroshenko has said that Ukraine has a strong and consistent support from Italy in the issue of security and defense. In particular, Italy considers it necessary to fully implement the Minsk agreements," the statement reads.
"The meetings were very constructive, friendly and trustful. We received all the necessary signals of support," the head of state said.
Despite the threat of possible terrorist attacks in Italy, Poroshenko said he was not going to change the agenda of his visit.
"We support Italy and the whole world in the fight against terrorism, just as Italy, the EU and the entire world support Ukraine in our struggle against the aggressor," the Ukrainian president stressed.
