Law on special status of Donbas must come into effect when elections take place there – Steinmeier
German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has said that the law on the special status of Donbas must enter into force on the day when local elections are held in the region.
Giving a speech at the Berlin International Security Forum, he said that the parties involved in the conflict in Donbas agreed that the law on special status must come into affect on a preliminary basis when the local elections are held.
Steinmeier also said that if OSCE confirms that the elections are carried out properly, then the law will come into force permanently.
