Parliamentary committee recommends extending moratorium on farmland sales for one year
The parliamentary committee on agricultural policy and land relations has recommended that the parliament should extend the moratorium on farmland sales until January 1, 2017, Committee Head Taras Kutovy has said.
"I'd like to address Ukrainian citizens, first of all, farmers, owners of land parcels who were worried about the moratorium issue, the regulation of land relations… Today, at a meeting the committee supported my initiative and the initiative of other MPs to extend the moratorium on farmland sales until January 1, 2017," he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Thursday.
Kutovy expressed hope that the parliament would support the decision of the profile committee in the near future.
He said that if the initiative is supported by the parliament, the committee plans to oblige the Cabinet of Ministers to draw up the required package of documents on land issues by March 1, 2016.
