Groysman proposes appointing 800 judges under new procedure
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman has proposed appointing 800 judges under a new procedure.
"We need to appoint new professionals in the judiciary system... We can together with you significantly improve publicly and efficiently in the first part of the judiciary now. We have got 253 motions in Ukrainian parliament today to dismiss judges. We have also got 547 judges who have applied for appointment indefinitely. My proposal is that these 800 judges should not be appointed permanently, but should carry out a procedure in accordance with the law on the right to a fair trial and select 800 qualitatively new, professional judges publicly," he said at a Constitutional Commission meeting on amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine on justice in Kyiv on Friday.
