U.S. ambassador hopes Mariupol residents will realize their electoral rights
U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt hopes Mariupol residents will be provided with the right to vote at the local elections.
"First of all, we are expecting information from the Central Election Commission about what has happened in Mariupol today. We welcome the statements of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko regarding the fact that a thorough investigation should be conducted and about his intention to ensure that Mariupol residents could exercise their right like all the citizens of Ukraine," he told reporters in Kyiv on Sunday.
According to him, the elections in such cities as Mariupol, Kramatorsk, Sloviansk is "the opportunity for Ukraine to demonstrate all the residents of Donbas they are the members of a single democratic family."
