Disruption of local elections in Mariupol unacceptable - Poroshenko
The situation surrounding the local elections in the city of Mariupol, Donetsk region, is unacceptable, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said, asking law enforcement agencies to investigate it.
"In my opinion, the situation in Mariupol is categorically unacceptable. From the very beginning I stressed the need to hold the elections in Mariupol and the fact that, according to my information, various falsifications were being prepared there, which we certainly could not allow to happen," Poroshenko said after casting his ballot at a polling station in the capital Kyiv.
The president said that he had already instructed law enforcement agencies to thoroughly investigate the reasons hampering the elections in Mariupol.
