Strong turnout and clean elections to be better rebuke to those who want to see Ukraine – US ambassador to Ukraine
U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt has said that no better rebuke to those who want to see Ukraine fail than a strong turnout and clean local elections.
"The Revolution of Dignity was about democracy, transparency and reform. Tomorrow’s vote gives Ukrainians chance to advance all three goals. No better rebuke to those who want to see Ukraine fail than a strong turnout and clean elections tomorrow. The world is looking to Ukraine," he wrote on his Twitter page on Saturday.
Tomorrow’s elections are especially important given decentralization reforms and increased local budget control, he wrote.
"Throughout the past two years, the United States has said that Ukraine’s future is for Ukrainians to decide. Tomorrow is a decision point," he said.
