Postponement of elections in Donetsk, Luhansk provides extra time for fulfillment of Minsk agreements – OSCE Secretary General
The postponement of elections in the self-proclaimed Donbas republics to February 2016 provides additional time for the fulfillment of the provisions of the Minsk agreements, OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier said on Monday.
Zannier said after the meeting of the CSTO Permanent Council, responding to a question from Interfax, that he has heard that the elections in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions will most likely be rescheduled to February 2016 and that this provides additional time to resolve the remaining issues of the Minsk agreements, specifically, issues relating to decentralization and preparations for these elections.
