The deployment of a Russian airbase in Belarus has never been under consideration, as what Belarus really needs is not a foreign airbase but certain types of weapons, says Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
"There has never been any talk about deploying a Russian airbase on Belarusian territory. I don't know anything about this. As the man with whom this decision rests, I don't know anything about this," the state-run news agency BelTA quoted Lukashenko saying at a meeting with residents of the Minsk district on Tuesday.
