Cancellation of elections in Donbas opens path to elections in line with Ukrainian law - Poroshenko
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko is sure that the cancellation of elections in certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions provides the chance for holding elections there in line with Ukrainian law without the presence of the occupation forces there.
"Here is the direct result of coordinated actions of Ukraine and our partners at the negotiations in New York and Paris: the illegal elections that were fraught with the resumption of the fighting and the ruining of the Minsk agreements have been cancelled. This opens the path toward Ukraine's return to Donbas through elections in keeping with Ukrainian law, based on OSCE standards, and, certainly, without occupational forces," Poroshenko said on Facebook on Tuesday.
