Rada calls on international society to increase pressure on Russia to prevent pseudo-elections in Donbas
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has passed draft resolution No. 312 "On an appeal to partner-democratic states of the world and international organizations on the intention [of Russian backed militants] to hold illegal elections in certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions."
A total of 237 MPs supported the resolution.
The appeal states that the Verkhovna Rada demands the restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine, including the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, in line with the resolution of UN General Assembly 68/262 as of March 27, 2014.
"Verkhovna Rada considers possible pseudo-elections in certain districts of Donbas the line which Russia has no right to cross. In light of this, the Ukrainian parliament calls on international society to reinforce comprehensive pressure on the Russian Federation to ensure the implementation of the Minsk agreements," reads the resolution.
