Poroshenko tells Rada factions' leaders fake elections in Donbas to be cancelled by militants on Oct 6
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko met with the leaders of Verkhovna Rada factions and has informed them that militants on October 6 will declare cancelation of the 'fake' elections in Donbas.
"We have information that tomorrow [on October 6] militants will declare pseudo-elections of October 18 and November 1 to be abolished," the president's press service quotes him as saying on Monday evening.
He said that there was no alternative to the holding of true elections under the Ukrainian law and OSCE criteria for the settlement of crisis in Donbas.
In this regard, Poroshenko stressed that Ukrainian political parties, CEC and media must act freely during the elections.
He also noted that IDPs must have the right to participate in the elections.
