Ukraine ready for 100mm caliber weapon withdrawal after OSCE SMM gives green light
Ukraine is ready to withdraw weapons with a caliber of less than 100mm from the contact line as soon as the OSCE Special Security Mission (SMM) confirms a 48-hour ceasefire in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) zone, spokesman of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Vladyslav Selezniov told Interfax-Ukraine.
"For the past 24 hours from 00:00 on October 1 there were no shell attacks registered in the ATO zone. Beginning from 00:00 of October 2 and as of the current moment of 09:55, no reports of shell attacks arrived, so the situation in the military operation area is stable…We're waiting for a signal from the OSCE SMM, which will determine the starting-point of the 48-hour count down," he told the agency on Friday.
Selezniov stressed that Ukraine has finished preparatory work on the withdrawal of weapons with a caliber of less than 100mm.
"The first stage is Luhansk region, starting with tanks, the second phase is artillery with a caliber smaller than 100mm, and finally – mortars with caliber smaller than 120 mm," he said.
