U.S. to supply new AN/TPQ36 LCMR systems to Ukraine this autumn
The United States will supply a batch of Lightweight Counter-Mortar Radars (LCMR) modified to the AN/TPQ36 standard to Ukraine this autumn.
U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt tweeted that the plans to supple the new LCMRs to Ukraine were announced at a meeting of U.S. Vice President Joe Biden with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in New York on Tuesday.
"Among many issues, Biden informed Poroshenko regarding new Q36 counter battery radars to be delivered this fall," he wrote.
LCMR AN/TPQ-36, made by Northrop Grumman and Thales Raytheon Systems, have a detection range of up to 24 kilometers for rocket launchers and up to 18 kilometers for artillery.
