Ukraine's security in no way related to situation in Syria – Biden

U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden in a course of the meeting with

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko in New York assured the head of Ukrainian state that the country's security issue in no way related to the situation in Syria, the president's press service said.

"The U.S. Vice President emphasized that the issue of Ukraine's security was not in any way related to the situation in Syria. Joseph Biden praised the signing of the agreement in Minsk on September 29 on the withdrawal of heavy weaponry of caliber less than 100 mm," reads the report.

The parties agreed that Russia must fully implement the Minsk agreements.

They coordinated their positions on the eve of the meeting in the Normandy format that will take place in Paris on October 2.

Besides, Poroshenko thanked the United States for supporting Ukraine, particularly for a powerful statement by President of the United States Barack Obama at the UN General Assembly.
