Yatseniuk points out record number of National Police recruits
Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has pointed out the record number of recruits for the new National Police.
"The contest selection [ratio] in the whole of Ukraine amounts to 1:20," Yatseniuk said in Poltava on Wednesday, where the contest selection for the National Police has just started.
He said that a total of 520 people have already applied to join the new police in Poltava.
Yatseniuk said that the salaries of the new police officers will amount to UAH 8,000-10,000.
He reiterated that the whole law enforcement system is being reformed, and that while there have been cutbacks, not a single employee of the Interior Minister has been thrown out onto the streets.
"Every one of you [new recruits] can pass the tests and become a member of the new police," Yatseniuk added.
