Prosecutors demand disqualification of Savchenko lawyers
Prosecutors in the trial against Ukrainian woman pilot Nadiya Savchenko, charged in the killing of Russian journalists, asked the court on Tuesday that her three lawyers be disqualified.
"Yes, it was a disqualification in relation to the breach of the right of defense," said the prosecutor, responding to a question posed by the judge who decided to revisit the issue at the end of the hearing.
For their part, Savchenko's defense lawyers asked the court not to grant the prosecutor's petition for their disqualification. "I did not think it could get to this point, we thought all this was just an unsavory remark directed at us," lawyer Mark Feigin said.
Savchenko told the court she does not want to replace her lawyers.
