Military conscription to be preserved, draftee's age to be increased to 20 – Poroshenko
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that the military conscription will remain in Ukraine. The age of the draftee will be increased from 18 to 20.
"It's guaranteed that the draftee won't be sent to the ATO [Anti-Terrorist Operation zone]," he said in an interview with Ukrainian TV channels on Sunday.
He also noted that the age of draftees will be increased to 20.
"It must be an already formed personality that within a year or possibly less will learn the military craft to defend the homeland with weapons in hands if needed. Such a person will be capable, trained, instructed and experienced," the President said.
In addition, Poroshenko said that there would be more contracted soldiers in the army.
