Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that a large-scale military demobilization process is taking place across the country.
"A large-scale demobilization process is currently taking place. My congratulations to those men who are returning home during these days. My congratulations to those who spent the year or nine months waiting for their fathers and husbands and will now finally get to see them. And I am very grateful to these Ukrainian heroes who by fulfilling their holy duty defended Ukraine," the president told Ukrainian television channels on Sunday.
He added that his order for the Defense Ministry and the Ukrainian Armed Force General Staff to start the demobilization process was issued on September 2.
