Equalization of tariffs at different customs service centers cut corruption - Saakashvili
Odesa regional administration head Mikheil Saakashvili has said that equalization of tariffs at different customs service centers would considerably reduce corruption.
"After a three-month dispute, yesterday, in two days after I had to announce this, according to the prime minister, the government has finally announced equalization of tariffs at different customs service centers. This would allow for considerably restricting corruption flows," Saakashvili wrote on his Facebook page on Monday morning.
He added that along with this initiative it is important to reshuffle customs staff.
"It is unclear, why this cannot be done earlier, without my political steps. However, it was proven again that public politics is not PR as opponents of reforms want to present it, but this is the only way to achieve results in Ukraine. Now it is important to reshuffle customs staff and we at least would have money for roads," he wrote.
Saakashvili also said that as the prime minister recognized that the existing schemes are used, then everyone who used the schemes and stole money should be punished.
