Lawyer for Sentsov appeals film director's sentence
The defense lawyers for Ukrainian film director Oleh Sentsov, who was sentenced to twenty years in a penal colony for preparing terrorist attacks, have filed an appeal against the sentence.
"I am asking for the sentence to be reversed and for Oleh Sentsov to be fully acquitted," lawyer Dmitry Dinze told Interfax on Friday.
Dinze said his appeal states that the court ruling is unjust, there are procedural irregularities and discrepancies of factual information that is stated in the judge's verdict. "I am also pointing out that the court did not fully take into account my client's personality," the lawyer said.
The lawyer said the appeal will be considered by the Russian Supreme Court and the appeal will not be considered before October 2015.
