OSCE SMM in Ukraine launches 'Youth Contact Groups' project

OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) in Ukraine has launched the 'Youth Contact Groups' Project, the organization's press service has reported.

The project was launched in accordance with mission's mandate to "facilitate dialogue on the ground in order to reduce tensions and promote normalization of the situation [in Ukraine] and is meant to empower young people in Ukraine to become dialogue facilitators in their country," the OSCE said in its report.

The SMM is convinced that the project will make a big difference by building bridges between young people from different parts of Ukraine and by giving them an opportunity to implement their own ideas and projects to secure normalization and stabilization in the country.

"As the SMM, we believe that empowering young people to develop and implement their own initiatives to address Ukraine's issues at this difficult time can contribute to ending this heartbreaking conflict," SMM Chief Monitor Ambassador to Ukraine Ertugrul Apakan said.
