U.S. to assist in reequipping Ukrainian frigate Hetman Sahaidachny – Defense Ministry
The U.S. Navy could provide new and upgraded technical equipment for the flagship of the Ukrainian Navy, the frigate Hetman Sahaidachny, the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported on Tuesday.
The issue was discussed by Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk, Defense Minister of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak and Commander of the U.S. 6th Fleet James Vice Admiral Foggo at the Sea Breeze 2015 multinational naval exercise in Odesa, the report said.
Ukraine and U.S. also reviewed the technical equipment currently used by the Hetman Sahaidachny.
Acording to the report, the U.S. has already assisted in reequipping the frigate and "expressed its readiness to continue assisting in upgrading the Ukrainian Navy."
