Ukraine wants to keep last year's mechanisms for import and transit of Russian gas – Yatseniuk
Ukraine insists on maintaining a mechanism for the deliveries and transit of Russian natural gas similar to the one that existed in 2014, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has said.
"We are convinced that the only mechanism to ensure both gas transit to the EU and the stability of supplies to Ukraine is the application of similar mechanisms that existed between the EU, Ukraine and Russia last year – it is a trilateral protocol between the EU, Ukraine and the Russian Federation and an appendix to the gas contract similar to the one that was last year," Yatseniuk told a joint press briefing with Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius in Kyiv on Friday.
