U.S. gives Ukraine last chance to combat corruption – economy minister
The United States has given the Ukrainian authorities one last chance to combat corruption, Ukrainian Economic Development and Trade Minister Aivaras Abromavicius said in his video blog.
"What did the Americans say? Guys, we believe in you, you have a good plan of reform, you have done a lot of things, but we really give you one last chance - and they actually said so - to fight corruption," he said.
According to a recent opinion poll conducted by the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, 97% of businessmen named corruption as the biggest obstacle to business in the country, Abromavicius said.
As reported, on July 18, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland during her recent visit to Kyiv said the issue which unites the most people across Ukraine is the need to fight corruption, and the current government should produce results.
