Ukrainian President Poroshenko has signed the law on the national police.
"[Poroshenko] signed the law on police, the new police," his "twitter" account said on Tuesday.
As reported, Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Groysman recently signed the bill law on the National Police (No. 2822) and sent it to the president for signature.
The Verkhovna Rada adopted a bill defining the legal basis for the creation and functioning of the National Police of Ukraine and the status of police officers on July 2.
On July 14, the Verkhovna Rada voted down a draft resolution to revoke the bill.
The law becomes effective three months after the date of its publication, except for certain provisions. In particular, the provisions concerning Kyiv patrol police shall come into effect immediately after publication. The provisions concerning the Odesa and Lviv patrol police forces shall come into force as of August 20, 2015.
