Yatseniuk instructs Naftogaz head to agree on date of tripartite gas talks
Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has instructed Naftogaz Ukrainy Board Chairman Andriy Kobolev to agree on the date of tripartite talks on natural gas supplies to Ukraine with its European partners.
"Jointly with our European partners [Kobolev will] determine the date of trilateral negotiations and apply such negotiating package as last year, which enabled us to pass the winter and ensure gas transit," Yatseniuk said at a meeting on preparations for the heating season of 2015/2016.
According to Kobolev, during the latest talks the parties failed to find understanding with their Russian colleagues regarding the terms of a gas agreement, in particular on how binding it would be for each of the parties.
Kobolev expressed confidence that the issue will be settled in August and the sides will manage to sign the agreement in September-October.
