Ukraine needs to additionally import about 500,000 tonnes of coal for 2.5 months, Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Volodymyr Demchyshyn has said.
"We must additionally import about 500,000 tonnes of coal in the next two and a half months," he said at a meeting of the anti-crisis energy headquarters, which was held under the leadership of the prime minister in Kyiv.
Demchyshyn noted that the order for imports of this volume of coal from all possible directions has already been given to representatives of the thermal generation sector.
The minister also said that the issue of a UAH 2 billion credit line by Oschadbank to Energomarket for coal purchases until May 1, 2016, agreed by the Cabinet, will be distributed as follows: DTEK will receive about UAH 1.1 billion, Centrenergo – UAH 425 million, Donbasenergo and TPPs – UAH 200 million.
