Poroshenko: Constitutional Court's decision on decentralization is important step that brings fateful state changes closer
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has said that the conclusions of the Constitutional Court on decentralization are important and life-changing.
"Today's decision of the Constitutional Court on decentralization issues is an important step which brings fateful state changes closer," he wrote on "Facebook".
Poroshenko said that for the first time in the history of Ukraine, the president and the government will give local communities greater powers than they have at present.
"Reforms will make people to be closer to real power, on the arm's reach, will make our country strong and firm," he said.
On Friday, Constitutional Court confirmed that a proposed bill on decentralizing power in the country meets the requirements of Articles 157 and 158 of the Ukrainian Constitution.
