Yatseniuk says Russian veto of UN resolution on MH17 tribunal proves Kremlin's involvement in disaster
Russia's veto on a draft resolution of the UN Security Council to establish an international criminal tribunal to bring those responsible for the Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 disaster in Donetsk region to justice is proof of Russia's involvement in crime, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatseniuk said.
"Russia's veto is a convincing proof of Russian terrorists' blame and a direct relation of Kremlin to the murder of innocent people. Murderers will be punished," Yatseniuk tweeted on Thursday.
As reported, Russia blocked the adoption of the resolution proposed by Malaysia to set up an international criminal tribunal to investigate the downing of Malaysia Airlines MH17 in eastern Ukraine in July 2014.
Eleven countries voted in favor of the resolution, Russia voted against, and three abstained. The resolution failed as Russia has a veto as one of five permanent members of the Security Council.
