Poroshenko asks Constitutional Commission to listen to leaders of Crimean Tatars
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has urged the Constitutional Commission to take into account, during the preparation of new legislative amendments, the opinion of leaders of the Crimean Tatar people on the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
"I ask the Constitutional Commission in the later stages of its work to listen to the leaders of the Crimean Tatar people and stipulate that the Autonomous Republic of Crimea as an integral part of Ukraine, should be a national territorial subdivision through which the Crimean Tatar people exercises their right to self-determination," Poroshenko said in parliament on Thursday during the presentation of the draft amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine on the decentralization of power.
