Poroshenko: No Ukrainian political faction will have armed formations
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that political factions in Ukraine will not be allowed to have armed formations.
"No faction will have armed units, not armed criminal formations," Poroshenko said in the Verkhovna Rada on Thursday, while attended the consideration of decentralization-related amendments to the Constitution.
"Despite the fact that I announced the direction on de-monopolization, the monopoly to use force and arms will always remain [the responsibility] of the state, regardless of how for now imperfect law enforcement agencies are. No one is allowed to give patriotic chevrons to bandits," Poroshenko added, referring to the ongoing situation in Mukacheve, Zakarpattia region.
