Nuland: Adoption of decentralization-related amendments to Constitution in first reading to show willingness to adhere to Minsk accords
The bill of decentralization-related amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine, which is a part of Rada's agenda on Thursday, will help to implement the Minsk accords and facilitate the settlement of the situation in Donbas, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland has said.
It will also bring Ukraine close to Minsk accords' provisions on decentralization. It's very important – at every stage of the Minsk accords, Ukraine is persistently working on implementation of its obligations. It's important that that all the parties do the same. Now, when Ukraine is making its steps, it's Russia's turn as well as the turn of Donbas groups it supports, Nuland told journalists in Kyiv on Wednesday.
She reminded that the amendments had been approved by the Venice Commission and they would bring European decentralization standards to the Constitution of Ukraine giving more powers to regions.
