Ukrainian army positions attacked by militants 100 times over past day

The militants breached truce 100 times in Donbas on Tuesday, the Ukrainian army operation press center wrote on its "Facebook" page on Wednesday morning.

It said the militants conducted 19 attacks by use of 122mm artillery, 33 attacks by use of 120mm mortars, two attacks by rocket launchers, and 13 attacks by tanks.

Kyiv claimed most attacks happened in the period from 6 p.m. till midnight. The militants bombarded Ukrainian forces in the areas of Avdiyivka, Opytne, Vodiane, Pisky, Kirove, Novhorodske and Luhanske.

In Luhansk region, the militia shelled Ukrainian army positions near Stanytsia Luhanska, Novotoshkivske, Krymske and Triokhizbenka. Only small arms were used in the Mariupol sector, near Talakivka and Mykolayivka.

The Ukrainian army was attacked by 122mm howitzers and 120mm mortars near Avdiyivka, Opytne and Starohnativka as of 6 a.m. on Wednesday.

At around midnight the Ukrainian army "discovered and deterred" a sabotage-and-reconnaissance group of the militia near Opytne, Kyiv said.
