Three employees killed in attack on post office in Kharkiv – interior minister's adviser

An armed attack was committed on a post office in Kharkiv on Friday morning, as the result of which three employees of the company were killed, advisor to the Ukrainian interior minister Anton Heraschenko has said.

"Just now, at 08:40 there was an armed attack on the Nova Poshta office on Newton Street in Kharkiv, during the morning cash collection. According to preliminary information, three employees of the Nova Poshta were killed," he wrote on his Facebook page on Friday morning.

However, the Nova Poshta deliveries operator told Interfax-Ukraine that they had no office on this street in Kharkiv. "So, it is likely that the attack was made on the office of another postal company," a Nova Poshta representative said.

According to open sources, an office of the state postal enterprise Ukrposhta is located on Newton Street in Kharkiv.

Law-enforcers are currently trying to intercept the attackers in Kharkiv, an investigative team is working at the crime scene, Heraschenko said.

"One of the main theories is that it was done by the same group of unknown individuals who previously four times robbed and killed cash-in-transit guards and still have not been identified," the official said.
