Poroshenko urges MPs to vote in favor of depriving corrupt officials of right to bail
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has urged the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to amend Ukrainian legislation on pre-trial measures of restraint to ensure that corrupt officials cannot be released on bail.
"The issue of depriving corrupt officials of the right to bail is currently a very important task for the Verkhovna Rada. I once again urge the MPs to amend the legislation and make it impossible for corrupt officials who were caught red-handed, with plenty of evidence [against them], to be let out on bail," Poroshenko said during a meeting of regional officials in Odesa on Wednesday.
