All Interior Ministry services will be reorganized as police, wages will be decent - Avakov
All Interior Ministry services will be reorganized as police, wages in the authority will be decent, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov has promised.
"All the services will be reformed. Only new services will be called police. First of all, patrol police, they will be followed by district police officers, then the criminal investigation department, then - experts. We have a very extended program," the minister told journalists in Kyiv on Saturday, talking about the ministry's plans within the transformation of militia into police.
Asked whether patrol officers wages will be less than planned, the minister said the budget foresees funds to pay UAH 8,000-10,000 to policemen.
The Interior Minister noted the Ukrainian police would have subdivisions to replace the existing special forces units.
"Wages there will be about UAH 15,000, i.e. these are decent wages for decent new policemen," he added.
