EP to consider request for observers to monitor Ukraine's local elections - Schulz
European Parliament (EP) President Martin Schulz has said that the EP will examine Ukraine's proposal for EP observers' to be sent to the country to monitor the October 25 local elections and will provide a prompt response.
The European Parliament has no tradition of sending observers to local or regional elections, but taking into account the particular situation in the country, the EU will be able to give its response to this proposal fairly quickly, Schulz said before the talks with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in Kyiv on Friday.
