Canada broadens sanctions against Russia

The Canadian authorities have broadened the list of sanctions against Russia by adding three Russians and 14 Russian companies, the Canadian Foreign Affairs and Trade Department said on its website.

The individuals in question are Alexander Dugin, Pavel Kanishchev and Andrei Kovalenko, who are leaders of the Eurasian Youth Union.

The Union itself is on the list, as are the state holding companies United Aircraft Corporation and Oboronprom, Konstantin Malofeyev's fund Marshall Capital, the Night Wolves motorbike club, Sirius, Stankoinstrument, Tula Arms Plant, Chemcomposite and High Precision Systems.

The list of companies banned from being provided with financing for longer than 90 day maturity now includes Gazprom, Gazprom Neft, Surgutneftegaz and Transneft.

Both by the list of entities and individuals, and by the content of the restrictions imposed against them, the Canadian list is practically a copy of the U.S. one.
