Council of Europe welcomes decentralization amendments adopted by Ukraine
Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland has welcomed the amendments recently adopted by Ukraine's Constitutional Commission regarding decentralization.
"I welcome the constitutional amendments regarding decentralization adopted yesterday by the constitutional commission of Ukraine. The amendments are in line with recommendations of the Council of Europe's constitutional experts, the Venice Commission," reads Jagland's statement posted on the organization's website.
He believes that this is an important step in the reform process and might also help moving the Minsk process forward.
"The Council of Europe will continue to assist Ukraine in completing constitutional reform which is vital for the future of the country", the secretary stressed.
