Railway companies have prepared fire, special machinery and equipment for use, as well as fire train personnel to fight fires at rail infrastructure objects and rolling stock, as well as for possible involvement in suppressing forest and peat fires.
According to the press service of Ukrzaliznytsia, 54 fire trains are in a state of constant readiness on the railways of Ukraine.
"This rolling stock is equipped with all necessary devices for firefighting. The water reserve in each fire train is 120- 140 tonnes, foaming agent - at least 5 tonnes, petrol - 500 kg, fire hoses - not less than 1,000 meters. In addition, by the order of the Ukrzaliznytsia management, one tank car was added to each train to increase water reserves," reads the report.
The railways also created reserves of fuel, lubricants and other resources needed for fire prevention.
In addition, Ukrzaliznytsia obliged railway transport enterprises to continuously monitor the state of fire safety, and update an action plan for fire protection of forests, peat lands and farmland bordering roads.
