Poroshenko asks Verkhovna Rada to dismiss SBU chief Nalyvaichenko
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko submitted a draft resolution that proposes dismissing Valentyn Nalyvaichenko as head of Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) to the Verkhovna Rada on Thursday morning, the Ukrainian parliament said on its website.
Following the president's consultations with the leaders of the parliamentary coalition's factions on June 17, Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction leader Yuriy Lutsenko told reporters that the head of state would submit a draft resolution concerning Nalyvaichenko's possible dismissal to parliament before the end of the day.
Several candidates for the post of SBU chief were named at the consultations with the president, Lutsenko said.
Poroshenko listened to the MPs' opinions, but "it is up to him to make this decision," he said.
