Kyiv knows of new candidate to replace Tagliavini as OSCE envoy to Contact Group
The Ukrainian government knows of a new candidate for the OSCE's representative at the Trilateral Contact Group, nominated in place of Heidi Tagliavini, and will not object to this nomination, says Ukrainian deputy presidential chief of staff Valeriy Chaly.
"There is a candidate, and there is a name. It is being considered by the various parties to the negotiating process," Chaly said at a news briefing on Wednesday.
"The candidacy is being considered not only by the Normandy format participants but broader," Chaly said. "I'll tell you more: I can't rule out that this issue could have been considered, inter alia, by the G7 leaders at bilateral meetings," he added.
"I don't think we will object to a joint position and our partners' proposal on this candidacy," he said.
It was reported last Saturday that Tagliavini was going to resign as the OSCE special representative at the Trilateral Contact Group for Ukraine and that a Serbian national could take her place.
