Oil depot near Kyiv still ablaze – Ukrainian interior minister
The fire raging at the BRSM-Nafta oil depot in the Vasylkivsky district of the Kyiv region has yet to be put out, but firemen are controlling the perimeter, Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov tweeted on Wednesday.
"Vasylkivsky fire: four reservoirs burned up by the morning. The flames are confined. Firefighting teams are controlling the perimeter," he wrote.
Officers of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine confined the oil depot fire on Tuesday evening. Foam was poured over two reservoirs as of 9 p.m. on Tuesday, the cooling of other reservoirs was in progress, and more foam will be used later on. A fire train is engaged in the operation.
As of now, the fire has taken four lives, including those of three firemen and one civilian, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry said. Twelve people were injured and taken to hospital.
