Energoatom indignant at SBU using force when documents were seized

National Nuclear Generating Company Energoatom has expressed indignation at the force used by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) when SBU officers seized company documents in its head office.

"We don't know why armed people come to peaceful atom to take documents that we're ready to present ourselves," Energoatom President Yuriy Nedashkovsky said at a conference of the company's employees in Kyiv on Tuesday.

The press service of the company said armed SBU officers seized agreements with Impulse production association dated 2013, causing injuries to an Energoatom's security guard.

"We registered injuries and I can tell you that we will protect honor and life of this person," he said.

The press service of the company said that claims of the state financial inspectorate to the agreements with Impulse are absurd. The service claims damage was caused to the state worth UAH 54 million due to the documents being drawn up in Russian.

Energoatom said that SBU used force at Energoatom's facilities for the third time (twice in autumn), although in all cases the company was ready to present all the documents in full.

Energoatom is the operator of all four Ukrainian-based operating nuclear power plants, which have 15 VVER reactors with an overall generating capacity of 13.835 gigawatts.
