EU decides to extend sanctions against Crimea – EU Council
The European Union will extend sanctions against Crimea for another year.
Representatives of EU member states made the decision which will be formalized later, Interfax-Ukraine learned from the press service of the European Council on Friday.
The current sanctions against Crimea are valid until June 23.
They include a prohibition on imports originating from the peninsula unless accompanied by a certificate of origin from the Ukrainian authorities, a ban on investment in Crimea or Sevastopol, a ban on exports of certain goods and technology to Crimean companies or for use in Crimea, including in transportation, telecommunications and energy, exploration and production of oil, gas and mineral resources. In addition, Europeans and EU-based companies may not buy real estate or entities in Crimea, or finance Crimean companies or supply related services. Also, EU operators are not permitted to offer tourism services in Crimea or Sevastopol.
