UNHCR to help Dnipropetrovsk region to create geriatric centers, kindergartens for displaced persons
Acting UNHCR Regional Representative Vanno Noupech has said that UNHCR will consider the issues of creating geriatric centers and kindergartens for internally displaced persons in Dnipropetrovsk region.
"We will discuss the issue what aid we can provide. If fail to finance the projects we will lobby for them," Noupech said at a meeting with acting first deputy head of Dnipropetrovsk Regional Administration Oleh Kuzhman and UNHCR Chief of Operations in Ukraine Jean-Noel Wetterwald.
Kuzhman said that over 60% of displaced persons out of 100,000 people are pensioners.
"The creation of geriatric centers for people is an urgent issue. The construction of new kindergartens is very important too," he said.
He said that the region requires aid of donors in financing the uncompleted housing projects where internally displaced persons could live.
